I know Dyslexia Inside and Out
I came to academic language therapy as a second career after 25 years in public health at Johns Hopkins University. In my first career I helped people around the world make the healthy choices they wanted to make in order to lead a better life.
Why the switch to academic language therapy? Because I am dyslexic, and my son is dyslexic. I know how dyslexia feels from the inside out. I wanted to help people with dyslexia thrive, as my son and I have. Not just in spite of our dyslexia, but in partnership with it.
My training is through the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC) - Maryland, DC, and Virginia's most trusted resource for dyslexia support. When you work with me you also get the insight and experience of the master therapists who provide my clinical supervision.
Learn more about academic language therapy at our professional association, ALTAread.org. Academic language therapy aligns with the International Dyslexia Association's Knowledge and Practice Standard for Teachers of Reading.
Because everyone deserves to read, I facilitate health insurance reimbursement for my students' families. I am able to create super bills and have a NPI, documentation than many insurance companies require for reimbursement. Not every insurance plan covers specific reading disorder, but some do.
